You are a licensed doctor

If you’re already a licensed doctor in your home country, Grenoble Alpes University Hospital offers several training possibilities. Your status will depend on the length of your stay and your objectives.
 

Visitor

You want to come to Grenoble University Hospital for a few days to learn a specific technique (among other possibilities). Grenoble University Hospital can deliver a training attestation at the end of your stay.

Please contact directly the clinical department in which you are interested.
 

Visiting doctor

You want to come to Grenoble University Hospital for a short stay (a few weeks up to 3 months). You will first need to contact the clinical department in which you are interested in order to get their approval.

You will act as an observer and thus will not be allowed to touch the patients. You will not be paid by Grenoble Alpes University Hospital.
 

Stagiaires associés

You want to come to Grenoble University Hospital in order to learn a new technique or improve your technique. This internship lasts up to six months and can be reneweable once.

You will be paid by Grenoble University Hospital and will practice with the same obligations as a French resident.

You must firstly get in touch with the head of the clinical department in which you are interested. Once they have agreed to welcome you, you might start the administrative formalities with the Medical Affairs Department.

The internship will lead to a training attestation. It is not an academic training and thus you will not be able to enroll at Grenoble Medical School.
 

DFMS / DFMSA

These degree trainings are exclusively meant for non-European residents.

This status allows you to come to Grenoble Alpes University Hospital as a student for a 6-month to a 3-year period. You will be paid by Grenoble University Hospital and will practice with the same obligations as a French resident.

The trainees’ placement is managed on a national scale. If you do not put Grenoble as your first choice, you are less likely to be chosen. It takes about a year to apply for this training program.

You want to come to Grenoble University Hospital for your research project.
